The England cricket team is a cricket team which represents England and Wales, operating under the auspices of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
The sport of cricket evolved in England, a founding Test cricket, One-Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 nation. Despite this fact, England have never won a Cricket World Cup. England played in the first ever Test match in 1877 against Australia in Melbourne and also the first ever One-Day International in 1971 (also against Australia in Melbourne). Peter Moores was given the job of Head Coach on May 1, 2007 following the resignation of Duncan Fletcher after a poor 2007 Cricket World Cup campaign. He subsequently employed Andy Flower as assistant coach and Allan Donald as bowling coach.
New Zealand cricket team, also known as the Black Caps, played their first Test in 1929-30 against England in Christchurch, New Zealand, becoming the fifth Test nation. It took the team until 1955-56 to win a Test, against the West Indies at Eden Park in Auckland. They played their first ODI in the 1972-73 season against Pakistan in Christchurch.
The current Test captain is Daniel Vettori. He replaces the Black Caps" most successful captain, Stephen Fleming who led New Zealand to 28 Test victories, more than twice as many as any other captain.
The New Zealand cricket team became known as the Black Caps in January 1998, after its sponsor at the time, Clear Communications, held a competition to choose a name for the team.
The NP Test Match Series between England and New Zealand, will take place in May and June 2008. The tournament starts on May 15th 2008 and consists of three five-day Tests.
The NatWest International Twenty20 between England and New Zealand, will take place at Old Trafford, Manchester in June 2008. The tournament consists of one day of cricket.
The NatWest One Day International Series between England and New Zealand, will take place in June, 2007. The tournament starts on June 15th and consists of five one-day matches.
